League rules
Key policies every player and spare must follow. Full on-ice rules will be posted here when the league provides them.
Equipment
Full protective equipment must be worn by players and referees at all times when on the ice, including warm-up and practice. Mandatory equipment, as per City of D.D.O., includes (a) approved helmet, (b) throat guard, (c) full face guard (players) or half face guard (referees).
Absences
Any player unable to attend a game must advise their captain(s) as soon as possible — by Thursday 10:00 am at the latest. One reprieve is given; a second failure to inform the captain moves the player to the spare list. Constant no-shows are not excused.
Showing up late
Showing up on time is essential. Habitual lateness will not be tolerated. Goalies are held to a higher standard. Process: one verbal notice, one written notice, then transfer to the spare list.
Conduct / respect
All players’ conduct is expected to be exemplary. Threats of any nature — verbal, written, or physical — will not be tolerated, especially toward captains and referees, and also between members. First offence: multiple-game suspension. Second offence: expulsion with no reimbursement.
Liability
Hockey is physically demanding and potentially dangerous. Each member holds blameless the Dollard Oldtimers’ Hockey League, its directors, and other members for injuries and health emergencies resulting from on-ice participation or other league activity. Download, initial, and sign the waiver to register.
Detailed on-ice playing rules are available from your captain and will be published on this page later.
